A cracked screen, a row of coloured lines, a set that hums but shows nothing — most people in Karur are told the television is finished and they should buy a new one. Very often that is not true. E-DIO Television Service LAB is a dedicated television workshop in Sengunthapuram, Karur, with the test equipment to find out what is actually wrong before anyone spends money. We open the set, measure it, and tell you what the repair costs. If the set genuinely is not worth repairing, we will say so — and we will buy it from you rather than let you throw it away.

Why E-DIO

Why people bring their televisions to E-DIO

The only display bonding machine in Karur

Lines across the screen usually mean a failed COF/COG driver bond, not a dead panel. Most shops can only quote you a full panel replacement. We re-bond the driver ICs on our own ultra-fine bonding machine, which costs a fraction of a new panel. It is the only such machine in Karur district.

Component-level board repair, not board swapping

We repair the mainboard, power supply and T-CON board down to the individual component with a microscope, hot-air station and oscilloscope. Swapping whole boards is expensive and often unnecessary.

Firmware and software work in-house

Dead-after-update sets, boot loops, no-signal smart TVs and corrupted EMMC memory are reprogrammed here using UART and universal programmers — the same techniques taught in our repair book.

Run by a published repair engineer

The lab is run by Prasanth Aero, M.E., author of the Dictionary of LCD, LED — a four-volume LED TV repair reference sold across India in Tamil, English and Hindi. Technicians from other districts train here.

A free, honest estimate first

We check the set and quote before we start. No work begins without your approval, and we tell you plainly when a repair is not worth the money.

Inside a repair

Most televisions are not dead. They are misdiagnosed.

Behind the panel there is a mainboard, a power supply, a T-CON and a backlight — four separate things that fail in four different ways. A shop that cannot tell them apart will sell you a panel. We measure first, then tell you which one it actually is.

Where we work

Television repair across Karur district

The lab is on Sengunthapuram Main Road in Karur, and sets come in from across the district. If you are outside walking distance, call before you travel — we can often tell you the likely fault and cost from a photo, and for larger screens it is usually better to let us collect the set than to move it yourself.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What do vertical or horizontal lines on my TV screen mean?

Almost always a failed bond between the panel and one of its COF or COG driver ICs — not a broken screen. The conductive film carrying signal to that group of pixel lines has broken down. It is repaired by re-bonding the driver on a bonding machine, which costs far less than a new panel. E-DIO has the only ultra-fine bonding machine in Karur.

My TV has sound but the screen is black. Is the screen broken?

Usually not. Shine a torch on the screen at an angle in a dark room. If you can faintly see the picture, the panel is fine and the backlight LED strips or the LED driver on the power board have failed — a much cheaper repair. If you see nothing at all, it may be a panel or T-CON fault. Either way, get it tested before buying a new television.

My TV shows the logo and then restarts again and again. What is wrong?

A boot loop, caused by corrupted firmware or failing EMMC memory. It is rewritten over the board's UART debug port or by reprogramming the memory chip directly. The hardware is normally undamaged.

The screen is blank white but the backlight is on. Is the panel dead?

That is the classic signature of a failed T-CON board, not a dead panel. It is one of the most expensively misdiagnosed faults in television repair — always have the T-CON tested before accepting a quote for a new screen.

My TV clicks but does not turn on. What does that mean?

The power supply is trying to start and shutting down on a fault, usually failed electrolytic capacitors, a failed standby regulator or a shorted component. It is one of the least expensive repairs there is.
